Heroes for Hire career fair

East Hartford - posted Mar, 30 2011

When military forces join or rejoin America’s workforces everyone benefits. That’s why Connecticut employers with job opportunities welcome a chance each year to meet the veterans who have served in the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, National Guard and Reserves by taking part in the seventh annual Heroes4Hire job and career fair.
The April 19 event, to be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rentschler Field Ballroom in East Hartford, traditionally attracts upwards of 1,000 potential employees. This year’s event is proudly sponsored by the Connecticut departments of Labor and Veterans Affairs, the Connecticut Military Department, CBS Radio, Travelers, Connecticut Business and Industry Association, Connecticut Chambers of Commerce and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Combined Insurance of America, Connecticut State Police, Travelers, Walgreens, Yale University, United Illuminating Company and Verizon Wireless are among the many employers already registered with openings in law enforcement, security, engineering, sales, protective services, manufacturing, financial services and more.
Members of the Connecticut Department of Labor’s team of Nationally Certified Professional Résumé Writers will also be on site to help with résumés, while a mobile career center, Workforce One, will also be on site to assist job seekers.
Employers can register for the job fair by visiting the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Web site at www.ctjobfairs.com or by contacting Terry Brennan at terence.brennan@ct.gov or Bob Lyons at robert.lyons@ct.gov.
