Contractors and Tradesmen Fair
Ashford - posted Apr, 29 2011
The Ashford Economic Development Commission (AEDC) aims to connect local consumers with Ashford businesses by hosting an Ashford Contractors and Tradesmen Fair on May 7. With more than 25 Ashford contractors committed to attend, the event will be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Knowlton Memorial Hall, near the intersection of Routes 44 and 89. Attendees will be offered an opportunity to win more than a dozen door prizes just for stopping in.
With the cooperation of the Ashford Business Owner’s Association’s and use of its website, www.ashfordbusiness.org, the AEDC is compiling a directory of services offered by local businesses making them easy to find. The commission’s members are contacting registered businesses to seek permission and information to post on the listing.
Over time, the AEDC plans that retailers and service providers will use the program to create some sales promotions, and offer incentives to customers who frequent their businesses. Ashford businesses interested in having their services listed at www.ashfordbusiness.org at no charge should contact AEDC through its email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Ashford Economic Development Commission launched its own website, www.ashfordedc.org, in the fall of 2008 as a tool for businesses from outside the area seeking information on prospective development areas in the town. Funded primarily by a Small Cities grant received by the town, the website seeks to promote the proximity of Ashford to major cities, transportation centers and institutions of higher learning - all attractive attributes for locating a business.
