Food service seminar

The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the town of Manchester’s Engineering Department, will present a second seminar specifically for local Class 3 and Class 4 food service establishments that will be affected by the state DEP’s issuance of the General Permit for the Discharge of Wastewater Associated with Food Preparation Establishments that Discharge to Sanitary Sewers (Fats, Oils and Grease). The date for compliance with the Permit is July 1, 2011.
The seminar will be presented free of charge on May 18, 2:30 pm, at the office of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, 20 Hartford Road, Manchester. Chamber membership is not required to attend this seminar.
Although this regulation was issued at the state level, permits for affected food service establishments are issued by town water and sewer departments, and inspections are conducted by town health departments. This regulation applies to Class 3 and 4 food service establishments, and must be in place in existing establishments by July 1, 2011.
Richard Staye, utility engineer, and Bernard Kalansurlya, civil engineer, with the town of Manchester’s engineering will provide an overview of the permit and inspection process. Questions and answers will follow.
