Business Skills Training Institute

The Community Economic Development Fund, the East Hartford Economic Development Commission, and the East Hartford Chamber of Commerce announce the spring workshops of the Business Skills Training Institute to be held at the CT IB Academy, 857 Forbes St. in East Hartford. All classes are taught by certified public accountants through Community Accounting Aid and Services and are open to business owners and people contemplating opening a business. The workshops run from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
The first session, Understanding Business Finances to Maximize Profits, will be held on May 24, 26 and June 2. Participants will learn how to keep the necessary records for their small business and how to set up functional record keeping systems. Discussion will include understanding financial statements, making income projections and different accounting methods that work best for your business. The fee for this series is $25 for CEDF clients and partner organizations and $40 for all others.
In the second series, Introduction to QuickBooks, participants will receive hands-on instruction in a small group setting. The class fee includes a copy of QuickBooks Pro software and by the last workshop business owners will have their business financial records set up for operation. The fee for CEDF clients is $125 and for non-clients is $160 (this includes QuickBooks Pro valued at $199).
