Union's annual Old Home Day event will be held on Aug. 20. Town Green activities will begin at 9 a.m. and include a farmers' market, vendors, a steam engine display, an antique car show, an eighth grade fundraiser, historical society open house, raffles and a church bake sale until noon. At 11:30 a.m., the new Union Veterans Memorial will be dedicated. The Union Free Public Library will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring refreshments. Activities at the the Union School from 10 a.m. to noon will include a bike and doll carriage parade, a mini carnival, face painting and crafts for kids. Join the softball game at 3 p.m. Beginning at 11 a.m., food will be available for sale in the town grove when the Republican Town Committee will serve hot dogs and hamburgers. At noon, the Fire Department will offer a chicken barbecue for $6 or $8. Union's talented residents will showcase their skills in the town grove for the afternoon, and the music picks up again for the dance at 7 p.m. when the popular Cold Train Band will perform, featuring the vocals of Tim Goodhall.
