Readings of epitaphs

On Aug. 26 at 7 p.m., Friends of Center Cemetery will provide readings of epitaphs that are thoughtful and humorous from ages long past, as well as look back on grieving practices which prevailed during the years of the Civil War and the Victorian world. The highlight of the reading will be a presentation by Civil War Widow Impersonator Jane Sabatelli on mourning practices and dress of that time. The cost of admission is $5. Bring your own chair, refreshments and a social will follow the presentation, being held at 944 Main St. in East Hartford, across from the Walgreen's.
