Marijuana forum

Glastonbury - posted Oct, 28 2011

Youth leaders from Glastonbury will host a town hall forum for parents, students, school and community leaders, and interested citizens on Nov. 1. at 6 p.m. at the Riverfront Community Center in Glastonbury. Following a catered dinner, a guest speaker, who is a Youth Sobriety Speaker from Alcoholic Anonymous, will tell his personal story of addiction. His presentation will be followed by a question and answer youth-led panel discussion. The panel will include the guest speaker, a medical expert and a Glastonbury Police Officer as well as members of the Youth Advisory Council. The Forum will focus on trends of marijuana use in Glastonbury. The number of Marijuana users continues to increase, and the Youth Advisory Council would like to inform everyone about this addictive drug.  The event is co-sponsored by Glastonbury Youth and Family Services, the Glastonbury Youth Advisory Council, and the Glastonbury Police Department. The forum is free and open to the public. Advanced registration is recommended. To register for this informative program, contact Emily Dickinson by e-mail at Emily.Dickinson@Glastonbury-CT.gov or call 860-652-7531. The Glastonbury Youth Advisory Council is a group of students in grades eight through twelve who bridge the gap between teenagers in Glastonbury and the local government. They work on a variety of community-oriented projects including the annual GHS Mock Car Crash, the annual Empowering Families workshops, the Prescription Drug Take Back Event, the Statewide PAWS Conference and the National Prevention of Underage Drinking Conference.
