Historic songs of work

The Suffield Historical Society will host Rick Spencer, musician, at its meeting on Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Suffield Senior Center. Spencer will sing and talk about occupational songs written in the late and early 20th centuries. The program includes songs about farmers, sailors, lumberjacks, cowboys, housewives, railroaders, soldiers and others. The presentation will provide a discussion of the labor movement in America and the modern use of songs that describe work. The public is welcome to attend.
