COLCHESTER- William J. Johnston Middle School sixth-grade student, Rachel Boislard, has qualified to compete in the Connecticut state semifinals of the 2012 Connecticut Geographic Bee, sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Geography Bees are held in schools with fourth through eighth grade students throughout the country to determine each school’s Geographic Bee winner. School-level winners then take a qualifying test, which they submit to the National Geographic Society. In each of the 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Dependents Schools, and the U.S. territories, the National Geographic Society invites the students with the top 100 scores to compete at the state level. The 2012 Connecticut Geographic Bee will be held at Central Connecticut State University on Friday, March 30. The top 10 finalists will advance to the state finals.
