Bat houses available

Hebron - posted Mar, 27 2012

HEBRON- Wren houses, wren house brackets and bat houses are now available from the Senior Friends of Hebron. While most people know about wrens, bats can be misunderstood. Bats can eat 600 mosquitoes or other insects in one hour. Mounting a Bat House nearby can help protect you against insect bites, can greatly reduce the need for environmentally hazardous mosquitoe repellents, and help prevent insect damage to gardens. Bats avoid humans; it is a myth about biting or "getting in your hair." Bat reproduction is slow, as only one pup is produced each year. Senior Friends of Hebron organization is closing the previous sale of the Winter Bird Roosts for the season. The response was very rewarding. The Roosts will be available only upon request until the sale to the public resumes next season. For information about the houses, please call Barbara at 860-228-3106. For information about the Senior Friends of Hebron, please call Carol at 860-228-3719.
