Walking tour

Manchester - posted Jun, 15 2012

The Manchester Historical Society will present a Hilliardville walking tour on June 24 at 2 p.m. starting at 642 Hilliard St., Manchester. The tour will visit the Bigelow Brook area where, until the 1930s, the woolen mills operated, as well as the interior of the old mills, which have been extensively renovated over the last few years, and are now home to new businesses. Peter Bonzani, who co-owns the mills, has researched the wool operation and the other businesses located in these historic buildings over the years, and will talk about the restoration process. Vintage pictures and artifacts are displayed in the mills. Participants may park in the lot near the building or along Hilliard Street. Costs are $3 for non-members, $1 for Historical Society members, free to children under 16. For more information about local history visit manchesterhistory.org.
