On July 8, the annual Channel 3 Kids Camp Benefit Ride will begin at TSI Harley Davidson in Ellington and end at Sun Valley Resort in Stafford Springs. Motorcycles are anticipated to stretch for miles with well over 1,000 participants from across the state and New England. All proceeds will help to fund year-round programs offered at the Channel 3 Kids Camp. Event day registration and pre-ride party is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at TSI Ellington Harley–Davidson, Buell, 398 Somers Road. Bring a camera. The breakfast reception is an additional $5 for registered riders and $10 for non-riders. The escorted ride will leave at noon, traveling more than 40 miles through scenic Connecticut until reaching Sun Valley Beach Resort in Stafford Springs, 51 Old Springfield Road. The after-ride party will feature a home-style barbeque by the beach, prize drawings, vendors, live music, contests and a chainsaw demonstration by an artist from Sickline Carving with the chance to win an original piece created during event. The afternoon music stage will welcome Arizona Maid Band, Quintera and Cold Train. Each band has donated their time and talent. Non-riders may attend the after party, kicking off at approximately 1 p.m., with an open invitation to the public. Participants will have the chance to win a number of prizes. All bikes, riders, clubs and walk-ins are welcome and encouraged to participate. The event registration donation is $30 per bike or couple. Riders may pre-register online at channel3kidscamp.org/ride, in person at TSI Harley Davidson or by calling 860-742-CAMP (2267).
