JesusFest, an all-volunteer group that helps believers to celebrate the Christian journey, is bringing globally-known artist Robin Mark to Connecticut for an acoustic community-wide worship service on Aug. 31. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the service beginning at 7 p.m. The event will be held inside the gorgeous 600-seat, circa 1889 sanctuary at Union Church, 3 Elm St., in the historic Rockville section of Vernon, across from Central Park. Dress is casual. The facility is handicapped-accessible. Admission is free. An offering will be taken to help with expenses. Robin Mark is from Belfast, Ireland and is currently on a summer tour of the United States. Over the years, his Celtic-style music has become popular within the Christian community in New England. Perhaps his single most popular composition is "Days of Elijah." During his 2012 tour, Mark is pre-releasing his new CD, which includes original new songs about the great evangelist John Wesley, founder of the Methodist Church. For seven years, JesusFest was a Christian country fair and music festival. For three years, it was an urban block party. This year, the organizers are hosting a series of events instead of one big event. The group also co-sponsors Jacob's Well Coffeehouse, a monthly Christian nightclub in downtown Rockville.
