WILLIMANTIC- The 3rd annual festival will brighten the Windham community on Sept. 1 in Jillson Square. Presented by the Spring Street Community Council (SSCC), the summer festival celebrates the unification of the Windham community by encouraging safe activities and entertainment to bring families closer together. The event starts at 11a.m. and ends at 7p.m. It will include live performances, food, games, raffles and prizes. Organizations are invited to participate by setting up a display table and providing literature relating to health, wellness and youth activities. The goal is to makes residents aware of the resources available in the community. The SSCC is taking a new turn with the sponsorship of the Windham Recreation Department, and this year will utilize Memorial Park in Willimantic for the event. Additional organizations and companies wishing to sponsor the event should contact the organizers. The proceeds raised will benefit the Windham Recreation Department and Youth Activities, with an end goal of establishing a Youth Recreation Center in Willimantic.
