VERNON- The Town Clerk of Vernon is accepting applications for Justices of the Peace from unaffiliated voters or minor party members who qualify to be included in a lottery to determine who will fill any regular or vacancy slots for this position. The Justices of the Peace are appointed by the Town Clerk based on an application made in writing to the Town Clerk between Aug, 1, 2012 and Nov. 1, 2012, inclusive. Applicants must be electors of the Town of Vernon. No person who is, or has been, a member of a major party (Democrat or Republican) during the three months prior to Aug. 1, 2012 is eligible to apply. This will be the only list of names to fill possible unaffiliated or minor party justice slots for the next four years. The Term of Office is Jan. 7, 2013 to January 2, 2017.
