MANSFIELD– Natchaug Hospital is pleased to welcome Shawn B. Cyr as the new principal for the Mansfield Clinical Day Treatment and Inpatient Schools. At the Mansfield CDT School, Cyr will oversee the education of students who have been placed in Natchaug Hospital’s State-approved special education program in order to receive more intensive support for social, emotional and behavioral challenges than can be provided by their public school. Cyr comes to Natchaug from Berlin Public Schools where he served as a special education teacher in the alternative high school program. Prior to that, he served as a one-to-one, paraprofessional, substitute teacher and full-time teacher at a residential school in Hartford. In addition to his teaching experience, Cyr has served as an administrative intern, union representative, and interim department coordinator. Cyr graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in Psychology. He received his M.A. in Special Education from St. Joseph College and a sixth-year degree in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University.
