Food drive

Enfield - posted Sep, 11 2012

Panera Bread on 90 Elm St. in Enfield will hold a food drive for its “Day-End” Dough-Nation partner, the Enfield Food Shelf, on Sept. 19 from noon to 3 p.m. in support of Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month. In exchange for donating an item, customers will get a chance to pick a Mystery Panera Gift Card with values up to and including $100 (limited one card per person, first 200 people). Recommended food items include pasta and spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, vegetables, coffee and tea, cereal, crackers, boxed meals and condiments, as well as toiletries, hygiene products and baby items. The Enfield Food Shelf, located at 96 Alden Ave, is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Enfield Conference of Christian Churches. The Enfield Food Shelf picks up the bakery-cafe’s leftover bread, bagels and pastries every Tuesday and Wednesday night and distributes them to those in need in the local community as part of Panera’s “Day-End” program which is carried out in every Panera Bread location across the country.
