Volunteer for Girl Scouts

Region - posted Oct, 16 2012

Are you skilled in engineering, financial matters, athletics, cooking, or other activities? Many girls in grades K-12 are eager to join Girl Scouts of Connecticut and are ready to meet new volunteers to take them through exciting adventures. Caring adult volunteers are needed to make Girl Scouting possible for all girls. Volunteering can be tailored to a skill set and to as much time as volunteers are able to give. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or older, be a positive role model, have a flexible attitude and sense of humor, and must become a member of the Girl Scouts for $12 per year. Support and guidance for all adult volunteers is provided by Girl Scouts of Connecticut. Girl Scout Council staff and experienced volunteers provide accessible, practical courses that make every volunteer’s time and efforts more efficient and successful. Volunteers are trained to guide girls in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, which enables girls to discover new things about themselves and others, connect with new friends and learn about other cultures and places, and to take action by finding ways to make their community or the world a better place. It is a rewarding program that creates new experiences and new friendships to both girls and adults. In addition, instruction methods are tailored towards specific volunteers’ needs. Being a volunteer opens up training opportunities including limited online and self-study courses.
