MANSFIELD- The Mansfield League of Women Voters will host a Candidates Night for Coventry’s state legislative candidates on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Coventry High School, from 7 to 9 p.m. Coventry is among the 10 towns in northeastern Connecticut served by Mansfield LWV. At Coventry’s Candidates Night, voters will hear the candidates for the 35th State Senate district and the 8th State Representative District. Tony Guglielmo, incumbent and Republican (R) Party candidate, faces challenger Susan Eastwood, candidate for the Democratic (D) and Working Families (WF) parties. John Murphy (D, WF) challenges incumbent Tim Ackert (R) in the race for the house seat. Mansfield LWV member and Coventry resident Sondra Astor Stave will be the evening’s moderator. There will be opportunities for audience members to propose questions for the candidates, and refreshments will be served. The registration deadline for the November election is Tuesday, Oct. 30. The Coventry Registrar of Voters Office (860-742-4061), or the registrar’s office in your town can provide more information about registration, or how to obtain an absentee ballot. Don’t forget to vote on Nov. 6.
