LEBANON- The Lebanon Education Association is the recipient of the Connecticut Education Association's Dynamic Local Grant. The grant amount is $5,000, and will be used to expand diversity education and programs at Lyman Memorial High School. Lyman's Diversity Program theme is entitled "The Power of One" and will feature guest speakers and performers including State Comptroller Kevin Lembo, Moroccan-American author Laila Lalami and African musical group Echo Uganda. The program will also include a variety of student involvement opportunities throughout the year for including the American Teenager Project, a school wide celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Week, workshops for painting murals and peace rocks, culminating with the Diversity Fair in April which will feature students from nearby Norwich Free Academy and participation from local senior citizens. The grant was written and submitted by Diversity Coordinator (and Lebanon's 2012 Teacher of the Year) Liza Escott and LEA President Kevin Brodie.
