Veteran admission at museum
Windsor Locks - posted Oct, 26 2012
The New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, will honor local veterans and active military personnel in many ways for the entire month of November 2012. All veterans and active military personnel receive half off the museum’s regular admission prices throughout November 2012. The museum will donate the difference to the Friends of Fisher House Connecticut. The Fisher House Foundation builds and maintains long term residential facilities near military hospitals nationwide where families of seriously injured soldiers can reside during the long rehabilitation process. The Friends of Fisher House Connecticut are raising funds to build a Fisher House in West Haven. The museum will also have a temporary exhibit on display entitled “War and Disability.” This exhibit examines the American military and disability experience in terms of technology, legislation, psychiatric effects of combat and pop culture, and covers the Civil War to the present day. This exhibit is on loan throughout the month of November from the Museum of Disability of Buffalo, New York. On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, visitors can meet and talk with local veterans who have had experience with the aircraft in the museum’s collection, you will also have the opportunity to enter the cockpits of select military aircraft during their tour of the museum’s three exhibit hangars. The New England Air Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Sunday and is located in Windsor Locks adjacent to Bradley International Airport.
