Free community health education programs

Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN) offers free health education programs at various locations. These programs are intended to be helpful and interesting to community members. "Diabetes & the Eye," join ophthalmologist Ilona Shternfeld, M.D., on Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to noon in the ECHN Community Education Room, at 2600 Tamarack Ave., South Windsor, as she discusses risk factors, prevention, screening and intervention associated with diabetes and eye care. The program is free but registration is required. "Surgical Options for Breast Care," plastic surgeon Harold Beam, M.D., and general surgeon Maher Suede, M.D., will present information about surgical options for breast care on Nov. 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Beam will discuss options of breast reconstruction, reduction and cosmetic surgeries, including enlargement and breast lifts. Suede will cover surgical options in treatment of breast cancer. The program is free but registration is required. "Shoulder Pain & Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair," join orthopedic surgeon Daniel Veltri, M.D., on Nov. 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Manchester Memorial Hospital, as he explains the latest advances in the treatment of shoulder pain and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.
