Veterans' Day events, fundraiser
Glastonbury - posted Nov, 02 2012
The Glastonbury High School community observes Veterans' Day each year. This year’s observance of Veterans' Day at Glastonbury High School will include displays or military memorabilia in hallways and the library. Students and staff will be encouraged to honor friends and family who are veterans by writing their names on poppies that will be posted around the building. A special focus will be on raising funds for the Capt. Gregory Galeazzi Recovery Fund. A 2003 GHS graduate, Capt. Galeazzi lost both of his legs above the knees and received critical injuries to his right arm in an IED attack on May 26, 2011. Since then, he has been receiving medical care and rehabilitation services at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas. The GHS community is responding to Capt. Chad Maddox’s request for support of “Greg’s Legs,” his participation in the “JFK 50K Ultra-Marathon” on Nov. 17. All monies raised in sponsorship of Capt. Maddox’s run will be donated to Capt. Galeazzi’s Recovery Fund. This fundraiser will take place Nov. 8, 9, 12, 13, and 14. For more information about Capt. Galeazzi visit www.cptgaleazzi.com. More information about Capt.
