COLCHESTER- Interested in renovating your existing landscape or moved into a new home and need to put in a new landscape, the Colchester Garden Club is sponsoring an educational talk to provide the information to help you plan that type of home improvement project. Landscape design principles are the basic concepts to guide in the creation of both aesthetically pleasing as well as practical landscape designs. Environmentally responsive design includes an understanding of microclimates and a knowledge of which sustainable plants will work best in a specific setting. Amy Sampson, a residential and commercial landscape designer and is the owner of AES Landscape Design and Consultation located in Cheshire, will be coming to Colchester’s Cragin Memorial Library on Monday, Nov. 26 (snow date: Thursday, Nov. 29) at 6 p.m. in Community Rooms A and B. In her talk, Amy will first present landscape design principles followed by the basics needed to understand typical microclimates. The talk will conclude with a presentation of select sustainable plants. The program is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served. There will be a voting of members for proposed by-law changes before the start of the program and all existing club members are encouraged to attend. All are welcome. Club members will be available to talk with interested individuals and answer questions about the club before and after this program. Anyone interested in the Colchester Garden Club may also the club’s Vice President/Membership Chairperson, Mary, at colchestergardenclub@yahoo.com or 860-537-1034.
