Shad Derby queen applicants

The Shad Derby Committee is taking Shad Derby Queen candidate applications. Applications are available online at windsorshadderby.com and at area schools: Windsor High School, Metropolitan Learning Center, Loomis Chaffee and Northwest Catholic. Completed applications will be accepted on a first come basis and will be limited to 15 applicants. Entrant must be a resident of Windsor. A resident attending school out of town or state may enter. Candidates must be at least a senior in high school and no more than a freshman in college, and between the ages of 17 and 20 by Feb. 15, 2013. A $400 entry fee and proof of the entrant's age must accompany the application. Queen sponsors must be a Windsor organization, business person or merchant. Sponsor must pay a $400 entry fee at the time of application. The check must come from the sponsor and be made payable to Shad Derby Committee. If entrant is not selected as a candidate, the sponsor’s check will be returned and the application destroyed. Entrants must be available for the following events: Orientation Jan. 10; photo session Jan. 12; Shad Derby Gala March 1; secondary judging March 20; coronation ball rehearsal April 28; coronation ball May 4; and parade and green activities May 18.
