Anniversary celebration

SALEM- As part of the Salem Free Public Library’s Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 1, Sean Donatello, a Salem resident, will talk about his experiences in major league baseball at 11 a.m. Sean graduated from East Lyme High School and pitched for the UCONN-Avery Point baseball team. In his sophomore year, he was scooped up by the Florida Marlins in the 2011 draft. He spent some time with the Jupiter Hammerheads and now is with the Jamestown Jammers, both farm teams of the Marlins. For the anniversary celebration there will be cake and punch at the library all day and free events throughout the day. At 11 a.m Sean Donatello talks about his experiences in major league baseball. Please register. At 1 p.m., Flock Theater of New London will perform a shadow puppet theater presentation on the “Sunken House of Gardner Lake." Please register. At 3 p.m. the Eight Mile River Bank will perform toe-tapping bluegrass music. No registration is required. The popular “Canned Goods to Cancel Library Fines” will start on Dec. 1 and continue until Saturday, Dec. 8. Each canned good is equal to $1 or less of fines. The canned goods will be used to stock the pantry at Care and Share, a non-profit agency in East Lyme. The Salem Free Public Library is located at 264 Hartford (Route 85) in Salem.
