Holiday tree replaced

Colchester - posted Nov, 21 2012

COLCHESTER- Due to hurricane damage, inoperable wiring, and being unreachable for lighting, the Board of Selectmen, upon recommendation from the Public Works Director and Parks & Recreation Commission, approved the removal of the 80-foot holiday tree on the Town Green. The tree will be replaced by one of the two beautiful 30 foot evergreen trees now adjacent to Hayward Avenue that were originally planted by the Boy Scouts. These trees, because of their current location, if not moved, would eventually have to be trimmed by utility crews to avoid interference with utility wires. They are perfect for a new Christmas tree for the Colchester town green. The new tree will be ready to be lit for Holiday Homecoming on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 4:30 p.m.
