EAST HAMPTON- The East Hampton Parks and Recreation will sponsor a walking tour of Arlene and Peter Bergan’s Peaceful Hill Christmas Tree Farm at 118 Clark Hill Road on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. The walks are organized by the Chatham Historical Society as part of its “Explore East Hampton” monthly series program. Come for a walk in one of the many tree farms in East Hampton. Peter Bergan will lead the walk of his 10-acre tree farm and show walkers his other 40-acres of managed forest. His wife, Arlene, will give a tour of their gift shop and work area where she makes Christmas wreaths and other decorations. The Bergans began growing trees in the mid-1980s and began selling the trees in the early 1990s. Located on a breathtakingly beautiful plot of land in East Hampton, the views and ambiance alone can almost make you forget what you came for! The tree farm grows 11 different types of fir trees, four types of spruce, and two types of pine trees. The Bergans provide hand saws and offer free tree bundling. They have a large gift shop stocked with Christmas tree accessories and fun stocking stuffers. Complimentary hot chocolate will be served. The walking tour offers a wonderful and unique opportunity for new residents to learn about the history of East Hampton and for life-long residents to share their recollections and stories. Adults and children are welcome to get outdoors and enjoy nature.
