EAST HAMPTON – East Hampton resident Kyle Amtmanis, a junior at the Middletown Agriculture Science and Technology program located at Middletown High School, was a winning team member at the recent 2012-2013 Connecticut FFA Forestry Career Development Event contest held at the Lockwood Farm campus of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in New Haven. Amtmanis is the son of Amanda Amtmanis of East Hampton. Amtmanis was joined by fellow students Maria Cherry and Stephanie Vopelak, both of Middletown; and Liam Mellaly of Clinton. The Forestry Career Development Event evaluates students’ knowledge of forest management practices, tree identification and measurement, and industry safety standards. The Middletown team will represent the state of Connecticut in regional and national competition this fall, at the 2013 Big E Eastern States Exposition and National FFA Convention in Louisville, KY.
