Budget plan recognized

COLCHESTER- The Town of Colchester was recently awarded the “Distinguished Budget Presentation Award,” by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. The award is given only to those towns, cities, counties or other governmental entities that meet the organizations strict requirements of transparency, detail, explanation, and comprehensiveness. According to the award’s criteria, an entity’s budget document must be proficient as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device. Out of 169 municipalities in the State of Connecticut, Colchester is one of only 15 that have received this recognition and only the second town with a selectman-town meeting form of government. All other municipalities have a council-manager form of government.
