WILLIMANTIC- The state Department of Economic and Community Development has awarded a $10,020 grant to the Windham Theater Guild for its on-going work in involving community members in the arts and supporting the Connecticut Office of the Art’s creative place making goals. The Windham Theatre Guild is a non-profit organization that has been producing community theatre since 1985. Each year, the Windham Theatre Guild strives to offer live theatrical and musical productions and education in the performing arts that promote the growth, quality and general welfare of the Arts in Eastern and Central Connecticut. The state Department of Economic & Community Development/CT Office of the Arts and the State Historic Preservation Office awarded grants Monday from its Historic Preservation Survey & Planning and the Arts Catalyze Placemaking program. These programs are funded by the state appropriation to DECD and by funds received from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Community Investment Act.
