Food alliance

South Windsor has joined the nationwide movement to support local farms, food producers and farmland preservation. South Windsor FOOD Alliance, a sub-committee of the South Windsor Parks and Recreation Commission and directed by Andrew Paterna, is sponsoring a Winter Farmers and Artisans Market. The market has late season local produce, fresh mushrooms, cow and goat products, fresh breads and pastries, gluten free products, fresh eggs, naturally raised beef. Locally grown pointsettias, hand made chocolates, crafts, artwork and jewelry are available for holiday gift giving. The market is held every Saturday through Dec. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Unity Church Community Room, 919 Ellington Road in South Windsor. More information is available at swfood.org.
