The South Windsor Teen Center is conducting and on-going can and bottle drive to help raise funds for the the Teen Center. The money raised will help enhance the programs at the Teen Center. Drop off cans and bottles at the South Windsor Teen Center between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The center is also conducting a drive for the Lodge, which is an emergency shelter run through the Cornerstone Foundation. They are in need of bath and hand towels, twin sheets and pillowcases, and individual toiletries. Donate any of these items at the center. The center is also conducting a drive to help the Cornerstone Soup Kitchen, which is one of the Teen Center’s community service projects. The Soup Kitchen is in need of cleaning supplies, such as dish washing liquid and powder for the dish washer; bleach and disinfectants. Also, the Cornerstone has need of paper products, such as plates, large and small, small bowls, cups, napkins, plastic forks, knives, and spoons. They are always in need of sponges, and cloth dish towels. If any resident or business would like to donate any of the above items, they may bring them to the center. The South Windsor Teen Center Youth Council is looking for creative, energetic, responsible and caring youths to join its advisory committee. They are looking for teens that are willing to commit their time to plan activities for the center and to get involved in the community. If you would like to join, stop by the center. The center is available to rent for weekend special occasions. Call for more information about renting the center. The South Windsor Teen Center is open to all high school students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be a late bus on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday that will pick up the kids at the center and return home. The Teen Center also has a program for middle school students on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6-9:30 p.m. Parents are requested to come into the center to pick up their child.
