Holiday tree collection

East Hartford - posted Dec, 19 2012

The East Hartford Public Works Department is encouraging East Hartford residents to bring their Christmas trees to the transfer station on Ecology Drive for disposal. Residents are not required to have a bulky waster permit to dispose of a Christmas tree. Normal transfer stations are our 7:15 a.m.-noon and 12:30-2:45 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and the first and third Saturdays of the month from 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., holidays excluded. The Public Works Department will also pick up trees that are placed at curbside next to their trash containers for a three-week period from Wednesday, Dec. 26 through Friday, Jan. 11, weather permitting. Collection of the trees will generally be on the same day as trash collection. Should the curbside collection fall behind schedule due to snow or unforeseen circumstances, residents are asked to leave trees at the curb instead of moving them and putting them back out. Trees must be removed from plastic bags, these bags are not recyclable. Residential and recycling will be delayed by one day for the New Year's holiday. The transfer station and office will be closed on Jan. 1. Residents may call 860-291-7363 or visit the web site http://www.easthartfordct.gov for more information
