SWFD anniversary

The South Windsor Fire Department, established in 1938, will celebrate 75 years of dedicated service to the community. On Sept. 20, 21 and 22, SWFD will host the 2013 Connecticut Firefighters Association annual convention. Events occurring that weekend will include a parade, a firefighters muster and a town-wide celebration with food and entertainment. On Feb. 22, from 6 to 11 p.m., the kick-off event will take place at Maneeley’s in South Windsor. There will be hors d’oeuvres, buffet dinner, open bar, dancing, raffles and auctions. Tickets for this event and donation information are available by calling Scott Fine at 860-463-0500.
