Hearth cooking class

Lisbon - posted Jan, 18 2013

LISBON- The Lisbon Historical Society is again offering its Open Hearth Cooking Classes in the John Bishop House Museum on Hwy. 169 across from the Newent Congregational Church. Lisbon Historical Society members will guide and instruct the students in the class to prepare dinner from traditional recipes, using period-appropriate cooking utensils and methods. The food may be cooked over the open hearth, the baking oven, the Dutch oven, or the roasting oven. When all the food is ready to eat, the entire class and instructors sit down to enjoy the meal by candlelight near the fireplace. Classes are limited to 10 students. The classes are Saturday, Feb. 9 from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 23, from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. A donation of $55 is used to continuously update and refresh the interior and exterior of the John Bishop House Museum and grounds. Please contact Paula Adams at 860-887-8052 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Refunds available only if the class is cancelled. Applications can be found online at lisbonct.com.
