Sen. Art Linares has been named to the legislature's Bipartisan Task Force's School Safety Working Group. Linares' panel will assist legislative leaders in their review of current law and make recommendations on a range of potential legislation to improve school safety. The effort stems from the Dec. 14 shooting rampage at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, which killed 20 first graders and six educators. Sen. Linares, who is the ranking member on the Select Committee on Children and serves on the Education Committee, said he was honored to be named to the panel. Sen. Linares (www.senatorlinares.com ) represents the 33rd Senate District, which encompasses Chester, Clinton, Colchester, Deep River, East Haddam, East Hampton, Essex, Haddam, Lyme, Old Saybrook, Portland, and Westbrook. He can be reached at Art.Linares@cga.ct.gov or at 800-842-1421.
