POMFRET- The Connecticut Audubon Center, 218 Day Road in Pomfret Center, offers the following nature walks in February. call 860-928-4948 for more information. All walks start at the Audubon Center. Wednesday Noon Walks: Through Feb. 27. Join Connecticut Audubon Society staff for fresh air, exercise, good company and naturalist lessons along the way. Seniors and parents with babes in backpacks welcome. Fee: Free to CAS members; $3 non-members. Thursday Morning Walks: Through Feb. 28. 8:30 a.m. Third Sunday Walk: Feb. 17, 2 p.m. Longtime volunteer, tracker and nature photographer Fran Baranski will lead and no doubt offer up animal tracking lessons along the way. Bring your binoculars and/or your camera if you are so inclined. Cost: Free members; $5 nonmembers. Monthly Bird Walk: Wednesday, Feb 20, 1 p.m. Come out for a leisurely walk on the sanctuary and abutting properties to observe our winter birds. Wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather. Bring along binoculars or a spotting scope if you have one. Cost: members Free; nonmembers $5. Owl Walk: Saturday, Feb. 16, 5 p.m. Sanctuary Manager Andy Rzeznikiewicz, will take you out into the evening in search of our owls of northeastern Connecticut. Species most likely to see and hear; the Great-horned Owl, the Barred Owl and the Eastern Screech. Cost: members $5; nonmembers $10.
