COLCHESTER- What is a Book-It-Kit and why is it perfect for you? A Book-It-Kit is a themed set of books, puppets, toys, puzzles, music CDs, DVDs and other materials for use with preschoolers and young children. Book-It-Kits can be used by parents, grandparents, daycare and childcare providers and preschool teachers, for story-time outside of the Library setting. The Cragin Memorial Library currently offers the following themed Book-It-Kits: Backyard Science; Bugs; Colors; Fall; Growing Things; Happy Birthday; Healthy Eating; Human Body and Wellness; In My Neighborhood; Manners and Social Skills; Math; Oceans and Sea Life; Shapes and Opposites; Spring; Storytelling; Summer Fun; Winter Fun; World Cultures I, Children of the World; World Cultures II, Language, Art & Music; and World Cultures III, Customs, Folktales and Celebrations. Smaller Book-It-Kits available are: Potty Training for Boys; Potty Training for Girls; and Coping with Divorce. A special kit for school age children, Rainy Day Fun, includes activities such as juggling, origami, card and coin tricks, chess, cookbooks, yo-yo and cat’s cradle. Book-It-Kits are available at the Cragin Memorial Library with a valid library card, may be checked out for a period of three weeks and must be returned to the Cragin Memorial Library. Book-It-Kits are provided by grants from the following: Colchester Rotary; C3, The Collaborative for Colchester’s Children; Colchester Elementary School P.T.O.; Colchester Learning Foundation; Friends of Cragin Memorial Library; and the Cragin Memorial Library Children’s Department.
