Student art wards

COLCHESTER- Four students from William J. Johnston Middle School received awards at the 2013 Young at Arts Show at the Mystic Arts Center. Young at Art is the region’s largest annual youth art exhibition and showcases creative works from hundreds of regional students ages 18 and younger from all over New London County and Rhode Island. Kelly Ann Kessler, grade 8, won the prestigious Lil Maxwell Award for Creativity for her painting, "Love Shadow." Lillian Wonderly, grade 6, received an honorable mention for her beautiful clay vase. Cole Gustavsen, grade 6, took 1st place in the 2-D category for a lovely horse painting while Allison Camboulives, grade 8, placed 2nd in the 3-D category for her feathery figure sculpture! All exhibits will be on display at the Mystic Arts Center galleries through March 16.
