Vacation arts program

MANSFIELD- The Community School of the Arts (CSA) at the University of Connecticut is hosting special Vacation Arts programs for students ages 6-12, a Wheel Workshop for students ages 10-15, and ongoing private voice and instrument lessons for all ages and levels of experience. All are held at UConn's Depot campus in Mansfield.. Vacation Arts and Wheel Workshop will be held during Mansfield Public Schools Vacation week, April 22-26. Students will work in small groups with teaching artist Rachel Clark to create, watercolor, tempera and acrylic paintings, drawings in colored pencil, oil and chalk pastels and markers, and fabric, construction paper and found object sculptures and crafts. Students can participate Vacation Arts classes for either half or whole days. Free before-care and after-care is available from 8 to 9 a.m. and from 4 to 5 p.m. A half-day registration is $35 per day (9 a.m.-noon, or 1 to 4 p.m.) and whole day registration is $70 per day (9 a.m.to 4 p.m.). The Wheel Workshop, which is only available as a week-long program from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., has a fee of $360, which includes all materials. To earn a 10 percent early bird discount for the April classes and Wheel Workshop, registrations must be received by March 9. Programs fill quickly.
