CANTERBURY- Canterbury Historical Society Presents Matthew Warshauer on "Connecticut’s Role in the Civil War" on Friday, March 8, at the Community Room of the Canterbury Town Hall, 1 Municipal Drive, Canterbury. A brief business meeting will be held at 7 p.m., followed by the program and refreshments. Dr. Matthew Warshauer of CCSU will discuss his book, "Connecticut in The American Civil War: Slavery, Sacrifice, & Survival," exploring the different attitudes in Connecticut toward slavery and race before, during, and after the war; the sacrifices of those who served on the front and at home; and the need for closure after the war. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. The public is welcome to attend.
