COVENTRY- The Capt. Nathan Hale School has a 2013 National Geographic Geography Bee Winner Eric Boutin. Eric passed the written qualifying test which was submitted to National Geographic for scoring. He moves on to the state Bee which will be held on Friday, April 5,at Central Connecticut State University, in Herbert D. Welte Hall at 8:45 a.m. He will be joined by up to 100 other students from around the state. State Champions will be provided with an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to participate in the Bee national championship rounds from May 20 – 22. The final round of the Bee will be hosted by Alex Trebek (from Jeopardy) on May 22. The program will air on television. The first-place national winner will receive a $25,000 college scholarship, a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society, and a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
