WILLIMANTIC- ACT, EASTCONN’s arts magnet high school, will present DanceFest 2013, a multimedia celebration of both student and faculty dance works, on Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6, 2013, at 7 p.m. at EASTCONN’s Capitol Theater, 896 Main St., in downtown Willimantic. Titled “Between the LINES,” ACT’s DanceFest 2013 explores the process, creation and interpretation of the written word and its possibilities. The performance consists of five repertory ensembles, each focusing on a different genre of dance, as well as on the act of writing poetry, short stories and novels. ACT faculty will also debut a series of works using dance to explore poetry, stories and books. In addition to original student works, performances will be based on Jack Kerouac’s Hymn; a collection of Native American poetry by Nancy Wood; the fairytales of Hans Christian Andersen; Nathaniel Hawthorne’s short story, “Rappaccini’s Daughter;” and The Diary of Anne Frank. Regular tickets are $10, while tickets for students and seniors are $8. Tickets may be purchased in advance through the Capitol Theater Box Office at 860-465-5636. The Box Office will also be open one hour before each performance for walk-up ticket sales.
