Council applies for grant

ENFIELD – The Enfield School Readiness Council (KITE) is pleased to announce that Enfield will be applying for the Department of Education’s School Readiness Grant for Competitive Municipalities. This grant will provide for twenty-seven Enfield children full time, year round quality programming that ensures the children will demonstrate the needed skills at kindergarten entry. Any center based program meeting the following requirements that would like to apply to receive any of the 27 slots need to do so no later than March 31 to Pamela Brown, Director of Social Services. Qualified centers must be licensed by the Connecticut State Department of Public Health, unless exempt. In addition, centers must be accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children or be able to obtain accreditation within three years or be awarded Federal Head Start status, offer full-day/full year programs, (5 days per week, 10 hours per day for a minimum of 50 weeks per year), and be willing to follow all General Policies and Program Operations guidelines as set forth by the State of Connecticut Department of Education.
