COLCHESTER- In fall, 2005, the town of Colchester and Colchester Public Schools was awarded a school readiness grant, funded by the State Departments of Education and Social Services. This grant provides an opportunity for the families in Colchester to access NAEYC accredited quality preschool programming for 3, 4 and eligible 5 year old children. This program offers 9 full day, full year slots at Curley’s Kids Care and 12 part-day, school year programs at Colchester Early Childhood Program and CASTLE. Eligibility includes: Children who are not enrolled in a preschool program; Children who may want a 5 day program; Families who may find it difficult to pay for preschool (subsidies will be granted based on the Department of Social Services sliding fee scale and/or School Readiness Council Guidelines i.e. approximately $76,480.00 for a family of 4). Applications are currently being accepted for the 2013-2014 school year. Applications are available at www.colchesterc3.org and at Colchester Elementary School. Once your application has been processed, you will be contacted regarding your status and possibly an intake interview, if you are accepted. If you are not accepted at this time, your application will be placed in an application pool. Please send the following documentation to the address listed below by April 30: Completed application; Early Childhood Health Assessment (must be complete prior to entry into school); Proof of residency (copy of utility bill, driver’s license); Proof of all household income – 3 recent paystubs, copies of social security statements, disability payments, TANF receipts, recent tax returns if self employed.
