WINDSOR LOCKS - Windsor Locks Dollars for Scholars will hold its 7th annual fundraising auction at Windsor Locks High School cafeteria on Saturday, April 6 at 6 p.m. Doors will open for previewing at 5 p.m. The purpose of the event is to raise scholarship funds to benefit Windsor Locks students interested in attending college, vocational school, or professional training programs after high school. Last year's auction raised thousands of dollars thanks to the generosity of local businesses, organizations, and individuals who donated and bid. This year's event promises to be just as successful thanks to the exciting array of items available for auction. There will be a silent auction and a teacup auction, as well as an exciting new Heads or Tails auction. Admission to the event is free, but packets for those wishing to bid will be sold for $5. Items on offer this year include one-year naming rights to the Water Works Conservation Path; a free home appraisal; a coach bag with scarf and sunglasses; certificates to area cultural and entertainment events; an autographed photo of Derek Jeter; rides to school in a WLPD cruiser; restaurant gift certificates; Red Sox tickets; an autographed photo of New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski; AAA membership, and much more.
