REGION- The Last Green Valley, Inc. (TLGV) is preparing for its 23rd Annual Walktober. Last year’s celebration included more than 130 experiences and attracted over 25,000 participants to the National Heritage Corridor. Consider offering a walk, bike, paddle, horse riding experience, or event, denoted with a catchy title, during the week as well as on weekends in October. All walks, bikes, paddles, and horse experiences must be free, guided, and open to the public. An admission fee charged for events. Offerings should adhere to the mission and goals of The Last Green Valley, which strives to interpret the heritage, celebrate the agricultural and natural resources of the National Heritage Corridor, and be a fun and informative venue for residents and visitors alike. Walktober will extend into November with an expanded calendar of events. Participation in Walktober is a great way to feature local organizations and their work. Interested individuals and organizations are invited to submit a Walktober proposal form on or before the deadline of April 4. Please visit the website, www.tlgv.org to download the Walktober form or call the office at 860-774-3300 for additional information. The Last Green Valley is a National Heritage Corridor – the last stretch of dark night sky in the coastal sprawl between Boston and Washington, D.C. A dynamic nonprofit organization, TLGV is a steward of that special place, working to celebrate our heritage, conserve our natural resources and respect our working lands.
