Honoring those who give

East Hartford - posted Mar, 29 2013

EAST HARTFORD - The Town of East Hartford will raise the Donate Life flag at several locations throughout the town to honor residents who have been touched by organ and tissue donation and transplantation. East Hartford Mayor Marcia Leclerc is encouraging all Town departments and other businesses throughout town to fly the flag during April, National Donate Life Month, as a symbolic gesture of remembrance and gratitude. The town-wide display of flags will also serve to raise awareness of the critical need for more people to join the Donor Registry. All Connecticut residents have the opportunity to register as organ and tissue donors when they visit the Department of Motor Vehicles to receive or renew a state driver’s license or identification card. One donor can help over 50 people through donation and everyone, regardless of age or health history, can join the Donor Registry. Mayor Leclerc urges all town residents to be inspired by the flags throughout town and the local stories of giving life through donation. To join the Donor Registry, State residents can visit the Department of Motor Vehicles or sign up online at: www.DonateLifeNewEngland.org. Registering as a donor in the State of Connecticut is first person consent in order to protect the rights of individuals who have made the decision to save and improve lives.
