Plant and seedling sale

REGION - There will be a plant and seedling sale of trees, shrubs, perennials, and edibles, most native to Connecticut. Also included in the sale will be evergreen, deciduous tree seedlings and Connecticut compost. All proceeds benefit the North Central Conservation District, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing environmental assistance. The pre-sale has ended but many plants will be available for sale in Vernon on April 19 from noon to 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 20 from 8 a.m. until noon at the Tolland County Agricultural Center, 24 Hyde Avenue, Vernon; or in Bloomfield on Friday, April 19 from noon to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, April 20 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the 4-H Education Center at Auerfarm, 158 Auer Farm Road. The sale will include items offered in the pre-sale, as well as additional perennials only available during the sale days. Free spring workshops are also being offered in Vernon on the Saturday of the sale. Topics include Connecticut Forests: past, present and future from 9 to 10 a.m.; and Planting and Pruning Basics from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 20 in Vernon at the Tolland County Agricultural Center.
